The Walking Dead 5.11 - 5 Talking Points From The Distance
3. The Evolution Of Michonne
Michonne and Carol - two of the strongest female characters in all of television - are perhaps the two members of the cast who have had the most drastic evolution during their time on the show. Michonne began as the silent warrior, all scowling anger and distrust, until she gradually began to soften her exterior, mostly through her connection to Carl. In this episode we see a Michonne who has become the voice of hope in the group, taking on a sort-of mentor role with Rick, giving him the courage to open himself up to people again. Initially it seemed Danai Gurira was being wasted, as the character was given little to do other than decapitate walkers with her kitana. But as the show's progressed, she's become an integral part of the cast whose death would be a real blow to the series as well as the fans.
