The Walking Dead 5.11 - 5 Talking Points From The Distance
4. Paranoia
The appearance of this man, who brings with him the promise of safety and sanctuary couldn't have come at a better time. The group is broken, mentally and physically, and in dire need of respite and regrouping. They're low on supplies and morale and Aaron has the solution to their woes. All they have to do is trust him; unfortunately, that's something this band of survivors - particularly their leader, Rick - is nigh-incapable of. Practically every encounter with other living humans that offered even the tinniest glimmer of hope has cost them dearly, and that's not a mistake Rick's willing to make again. Despite all the signs that this time things are on the up and up, Grimes refuses to relent and goes into full-blown defence and counter-assault mode. His paranoia has kept them safe this long, but a mood shifts within the group and they start to see it as a hindrance.
