The Walking Dead: 7 Things "Them" Got Right (And 3 It Didn't)

5. God, Daryl Is Weird

Daryl Dixon becoming the break out star of The Walking Dead is pretty weird. Norman Reedus is a fine actor and everything, but the character €“ who was created especially for the series, not being present in the comics at all €“ is a complete oddball, who stands apart from the rest of the show's ensemble. At least, when they actually give him a chance to be his true self. For the first half of the fifth season Daryl has been all about getting things done, even shirking his usual loner nature to team up with Carol and then the rest of the group in his search for the kidnapped Beth. He almost became the gung-ho, sexually unidentifiable hero fans make him out to be. But nah, Daryl is more like if that weird 4chan-surfing kid from high school with the compound bow and The Anarchist's Cookbook was as cool as he made out. This episode saw him eating worms and crying in the woods on his own. That's the great, crazy Dixon we fell in love with.
