The Episode: "Silence the Whisperers"
How it Happened:
When Margo, Alfred, and Gage jumped Lydia in Alexandria, Margo held Lydia down while demanding that Gage attack her. Before anything further could happen, though, Negan swooped in to save the young girl, pulling Margo off her and inadvertently sending her headfirst into a deadly encounter with a wall.
Why It's on This List:
Not only a traumatic moment for Lydia, the death of Margo practically extinguished much of the - admittedly small - goodwill Negan had been building in one fell swoop.
Negan's fate was immediately put up in the air, with many demanding he be executed despite the death being an accident as part of a good deed, and Negan's escape before he could face judgment sent him down the path of a larger arc that put him in Alpha's orbit.
