2. The Time Jump Is More Of A Time Leap
The glimpse at old man Rick in the trailer sparked unprecedented speculation among Walking Dead fans, some predicting that it's a flash-forward to the character's death, and others citing it as evidence that the entire show is his coma dream.
Even those who've read the comic books and are aware the story jumps forward in time by several years would be surprised if this scene turned out to be exactly what it looks like - a leap forward of five years minimum. Hell, it may even be 10.
It's a ballsy show that just ups sticks and moves to half a decade or so in the future, and it would be fascinating to see how this played out. Where are the characters at so many years after the war with Negan? Would any of them have to be recast to show the effects of ageing? Obviously Judith would, but what about Carl?
Judging by Rick's grey hair and bushy beard, the jump could be at least five years, although in an apocalyptic world the ravages of time are probably more pronounced.
In a bid to stay fresh, The Walking Dead could be turning the comic's time jump of little more than a few years into something much bigger and taking up permanent residence in this time period from season 9.
