The Walking Dead: 8 Plot Twists Nobody Will See Coming In Season 8
3. Maggie Executes Gregory
The comic fans won't be as shocked by the violent path Maggie Rhee could be about to head down, but those whose Walking Dead knowledge is limited to the televsion show will be aghast if this scene is adapted.
Hell, even some of the comic readers are expecting AMC to pull punches here in favour of a source material deviation, because what she does to Gregory is dark.
Gregory is depicted as a snivelling coward under the control of the Saviours in the show, and that's an accurate description of him in the comics too. After Negan's defeat, the people of Hilltop back Maggie as a more suitable leader for the community, but her inept predecessor offers resistance at every turn.
The power struggle is drawn out, unfolding across several arcs, but it finally comes to a head when Maggie hangs Gregory from his, executing him in front of her people.
There's a chance the TV show will gloss over much of the Maggie-versus-Gregory subplot and simply have her dispatch the inept leader during all-out war. Although public execution sounds like a move out of Negan's playbook, seeing her husband brutally murdered in front of her has changed Maggie forever.
