The Walking Dead: 9 Comic Book Moments The TV Show Totally Butchered

From the very first episode of season 6, it was obvious that the horde of zombies Rick and company were so desperately trying to divert away from Alexandria would eventually breach its walls somehow. Yet, when the herd finally broke down into the town and set into motion the really juicy moments from the comic book, the TV show decided to take a mid-season break. After weeks and weeks of build up, The Walking Dead postponed the big climax of the story until the first episode of the season's second half.

Fortunately for us, when the show came back the much anticipated first episode didn't disappoint. Unfortunately, the major comic moments that fans had been waiting to see on the small screen kind of did.

Greg Nicotero is perhaps the most popular Walking Dead director, but he isn't always the most consistent when it comes to building suspense or dictating the flow of a scene. As a result, the sequence where Carl gets his eye shot out and Rick has to chop off the hand of his new girlfriend felt... awkward.

The rising tension of the comic is no longer there, as the stranded characters stand around in the middle of the herd, barely reacting as they get devoured one by one. As a result, what should have been a gut-wrenching scene only left you scratching your head, wondering what the hell anyone was actually doing.
