The Walking Dead: 9 Comic Book Moments The TV Show Totally Butchered

The season 4 finale of The Walking Dead ends with Rick finally transforming into his "take no chances" persona. After embracing the survival-of-the-fittest mentality when he's forced to brutally murder a pack of scavengers that ambushed him, Carl and Michonne in the dead of night, Rick once again finds himself in the heart of enemy territory, locked inside a train-car owned by a group of cannibals

However, fortunately for him, so is the rest of the group. Backed into a corner but finally reunited with his friends after half a season apart, the tension builds as Rick informs the others that this new enemy is going to be "pretty stupid when they find out". "Find out what?" Abraham asks; the music swells, the camera leans in and Rick says: "they're screwing with the wrong people." The season ends and the episode cuts to black.

It was kind of a lame note to finish on, especially considering how powerful this moment was in the graphic novel. While the events leading up to the line weren't exactly the same across the two mediums, it was actually a simple word change that managed to ruin the impact of the moment in the show.

The source material obviously isn't at the whims of advertisers and censorship, and thus Rick's final line features an f-bomb rather than the TV show's infamously PG "screwing". Swearing doesn't necessarily make a show more edgy or mature, but an f-bomb here would have done wonders to cement Rick's transformation into a more ruthless survivor.
