4. Wildfire
At the end of Vatos, Rick returned to the camp to find it overrun with walkers, leading to many deaths and the sharp realisation that in order to survive, they're going to have to move. Wildfire follows on from the attack, and focusses on the survivors as they deal with their grief.
In the centre of the episode, Rick attempts to convince the others to venture to the nearby CDC, in hopes of finding other survivors, or even a cure for the disease, whilst Andrea grapples with the loss of her sister, and Jim reveals he's been bitten.
An episode made up of some of the show's most important early developments, Wildfire features a rare look into the mind of someone who's been bitten by a walker, and comes complete with the first major death of the show, to teary-eyed effect.
Characteristically balancing its themes with startling precision, the episode concludes with a major cliffhanger, promising things are only just beginning...and are ready to get much, much worse.
