The Walking Dead: Every Season 3 Episode Ranked Worst To Best

14. Hounded

The Walking Dead
AMC

One of the biggest issues with The Walking Dead's third season comes from Rick's trauma over the death of his wife, which sends him into an unbelievable spiral complete with hallucinations, shock outbursts, and an imaginary phone call with people from his past.

Rick's prolonged struggle with grief and bizarre phone calls reaches its apex in Hounded, with the group leader sure he's talking to other survivors who can save the group from their troubles. It's odd, off-putting, needlessly surreal and forced.

There are some great moments in the episode, mind, including Merle's attempts to kill Michonne, and the kidnapping of Glenn and Maggie that comes as if from nowhere. Its weaknesses are hard to ignore, but Hounded's strongest developments make sure to keep things moving forward nicely.
