The Walking Dead: Every Season 3 Episode Ranked Worst To Best

13. The Suicide King

The Walking Dead
AMC

Opening with a strong first act that finds Daryl and Merle forced to fight each other in Woodbury before being saved by Rick, The Suicide King is an episode of two halves - one brilliant, the other dull and forgettable.

The best development comes from Daryl, who despite becoming a full member and leader within the main group, is forced to chose between Rick and his brother and ends up walking away with Merle. There's also a stirring arc dealing with Glenn's anger over what The Governor recently did to Maggie.

This side of things is excellent in its narrative progression and emotional weight, but the episode is then derailed by a slow second act dealing with The Governor's recent defeat and Andrea's rise to power, which starts off promising before succumbing to its tired pace and lack of stakes.
