During season eight, Negan was slowly beginning to lose the trust of his closest confidant, the psychopathic Simon (Steven Ogg).

Defying his leader's orders, Simon went on a power binge and had their allies The Scavengers wiped out in a brutal and unprecedented massacre. All of the Scavengers were killed, save their leader Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh), who led her people up a hill to a metal grinder in the junkyard.

With all of her people churned up and killed, Jadis would eventually become a member of the Survivors.
