The Walking Dead Mid-Season 7 Premiere: 6 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Rock In The Road'
2. It's Finally Headed Somewhere
A problem with Season 7A was the lack of forward momentum. It kept introducing new communities and focusing on single storylines, meaning there wasn't too much advancement of the overarching plot until right towards the end, instead choosing to beat us and the characters with the same points, mostly involving just how broken Rick was.
The mid-season finale started to change this up, and this episode really pushes things forward. Rick meets Ezekiel and asks for the Kingdom's help, they manage to thwart the Saviours, and then the arrival of Oceanside (or whatever this community is) at the climax of the episode suggests things are about to get even bigger.
All of these communities will need to work together to defeat Negan, and even then it's going to result in a bloody war with numerous casualties. We're still some way off that, but at least this episode finally starts building towards it.
