The Walking Dead Season 11 Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs From "Out Of The Ashes"

7. DOWN: The Commonwealth Arc's Glaring Pace Issues

The Walking Dead
AMC

The build-up to get inside the Commonwealth has taken a dozen episodes of tightly plotted tension, brilliantly creating a strong sense of mystery around the new community.

Unfortunately, the show's first episode to properly show the Commonwealth off does very little to keep up with its slow-burn mystery, and Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko and Princess' first day there moves far too quick, introducing a few intriguing mysteries but not allowing audiences to properly come to terms with the place.

From Eugene going on an ice cream date with "Stephanie" to his desire to break the community's laws and make contact with Alexandria, Out of the Ashes rushes its reveals and fails to make the Commonwealth pay-off.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
