The Walking Dead Season 11 Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs From "For Blood"

9. DOWN: The Anticlimactic Cliffhangers

The Walking Dead For Blood
AMC

In an ideal world, the group's recent clash with the Reapers would have ended here, and though the episode certainly teases some big drama with the story's future, it's still frustrating that the writers decided to end For Blood with not one, but two pretty pointless cliffhangers.

The first twist takes place in Alexandria, where Judith and Gracie are trapped by a walker herd in a flooding basement, and the second happens at the Reapers' compound, where Leah unleashes a deadly weapon on Daryl, Maggie, Negan and their walker army.

Considering none of these characters are in danger of being killed off in such underwhelming fashion (right?), the cliffhangers have no stakes and only seem to be in place to drag out the Reaper war for at least another episode.

Of course, this narrative framework has always been used on The Walking Dead, but even so this week's double twist feel really cheap.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
