The Walking Dead Season 11 Review - 6 Ups & 2 Downs From "What's Been Lost"
1. Up - Lance's Death
Throughout this season, Lance has spewed and spun lie after lie as he tried to manipulate his way to the top and reign over the people of the Commonwealth. Like all great villains throughout the show that has come before him, he too finally met his demise.
After breaking him out of prison to find their friends, Lance reveals to them a train that the Commonwealth hoped to use to reach other communities. Thinking he had fooled Carol with his speech earlier, she and Daryl give him a choice to either run away and live outside of the walls or be killed for his actions against the other communities where he stands.
Other than receiving his comeuppance for his past actions, what makes the scene entertaining is how the duo anticipated his every move and knew he wouldn't just walk away from his hard work. Knowing how much he wants to take control of the Commonwealth, they were able to take advantage of this knowledge and react quickly to his actions, aware that he couldn't resist his own greed and selfishness and put him down in the process.
Trying to utter his last words while gagging on his own blood, his death is a gruesome and satisfying end to an arc actor Josh Hamilton was able to deliver brilliantly from start to finish.
