3. The Brilliant Action Sequences
For the most part, Acheron is all atmosphere, trapping our heroes in two vastly different but equally terrifying, inescapable scenarios, but there are also brief spots of action that're directed excellently by Walking Dead newcomer Kevin Dowling.
Once the tension has been turned up to an almost insufferable high, the final part of the premiere offers a welcome sigh of relief courtesy of a typically heroic Daryl rampage.
Since Rick Grimes was written out of the show, Daryl has more or less taken the mantle of the show's lead protagonist, and Norman Reedus has been given numerous opportunities to show off his impressive physicality with some seriously demanding fight scenes.
Acheron is no different, and gives the iconic bowman one of his most badass sequences yet. And considering how the episode ends, you can rest assured the epic fight scenes are only just getting started...
