8. DOWN: The Unanswered Questions
The big conflict of the season so far has been between Maggie's group and the Reapers, who were revealed at the end of season ten to have attacked Maggie's settlement and killed most of her friends.
But it occurred to me during Promises Broken that this backstory is all we actually know about their violent feud. Maggie wants the food they stole; Pope wants her and her friends dead.
Given how much Maggie has changed since we last saw her, and how many moments there are scattered throughout the episode where it looks as though she's about admit some lingering secret to Negan, Promises Broken has highlighted just how little we know about the conflict and Maggie's involvement in its origins.
Of course, the episode has set-up a major clash for next week, so hopefully we'll finally learn more about what's going on in due time. Fingers crossed.
