The Walking Dead Season 4 Finale: 10 Huge Questions Created

9. What Is Terminus?

At this point it's obvious that Terminus is not the utopian sanctuary Rick and company were hoping for. While Glenn, Maggie and their group approached with an apparent lack of caution, walking right in the front gates (which were suspiciously unmanned), Rick, Carl, Daryl and Michonne were smart enough to scope out their surroundings before approach. Unfortunately it would appear they didn't do enough recon because Terminus wound up being much more heavily armed and secure than it first appeared The way the gates were left unlocked, providing easy access for anyone who wished to just waltz right in, initially led us to believe that Terminus was populated by incompetent people with little knowledge of security precautions, but that soon proved to not be the case. In a clever callback to an earlier scene where Rick explained to Carl and Michonne how to prepare a snare trap, the Terminus snipers used gunfire to herd Rick's group into the area of the train car marked "A" where they would end up imprisoned. At this point it's become apparent that Terminus deliberately gives off the impression of being lackadaisical to throw off any visitors and lure them into a false sense of security, thus making them easier to ensnare in their own trap. But the real question is why are they capturing people in the first place?
