2. Fringe Characters Trial Period

One of The Walking Dead's most bittersweet aspects is the sheer size of the cast. There are plenty of characters to utilise and/or kill, and many, many stories to tell, but that also means other characters must be pushed to the sideline or ousted from the show. The Walking Dead is still grappling with the balance, with Carol, Heath, Michonne, Gabriel, Morgan and Eugene, among others, all omitted from the episode despite being within the walls, while Sasha, Daryl and Abraham were also out of the picture. Still, it's good that some of the obscure characters are getting a look-in, and once we begin to care about them, they'll reach a point where they can develop into a major player, or be killed in a nightmarish way. By including every character, TWD is enhancing the likelihood of their deaths, so you can expect some form of cull in the coming episodes.
