The Walking Dead Season 6 Finale: 13 Things Episode 16 Got Horribly Wrong

11. The Eugene Love-In

Negan The Walking Dead
Gene Page/AMC

Why does the show suddenly love Eugene? He started as a total annoyance, but gradually worked his way up to becoming a courageous 'trier'. He wasn't perfect, but he tried to help. Even at the mid-season he was still terrified of the walker threat, but after the break, he survived one fight and suddenly turned into an overconfident moron.

He arrogantly declared himself a total survivor who didn't need Abraham anymore, though Abraham saved Eugene's life twice in that episode. Remarkably, Abraham was still forced to apologise for doubting his abilities. Eugene is a selfish guy, an awful character, and the ridiculous love-in during the finale was capped off with his plan failing pathetically.

His development has been all over the place, his humour is completely unnecessary, and his recent fake sense of competency is completely unfounded. Go on, Negan, do it...
