The Walking Dead Season 7: 11 WTF Moments From 'The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be'
5. Another One Bites The Dust
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to your TV screen…
Not content with just killing off Abraham Ford (and his magnificent moustache!), The Walking Dead went one further and pulled the rug out from under its audience by doing something many had feared as soon as Negan was announced as appearing in the show. Yes, they did it. They really, really did it.
Glenn Rhee, a character who has been around since The Walking Dead’s very first episode (in voice form, at least), has finally been killed off. And man, was it brutal… yet also morbidly brilliant.
We may have had to bid a tragic goodbye to one of the show’s most beloved characters, but it was a WTF moment if ever there was. Even better (if that is indeed the right term for such a troubling moment) is how similar to the comic book demise of Glenn this was, complete with Negan’s dialogue and Glenn’s ugly, popping-out-of-his-head eyeball whilst he heartbreakingly tries to call out to Maggie.
The Walking Dead burned many fans’ patience in how it seemingly killed off Glenn last season only to then reveal he’d hidden under a dumpster. With his death here, there’ll be no overcoming the odds, no magical way back from a nailed-on fate. No, Glenn Rhee is dead. As dead as a dodo. As dead as the demand for mullets in 2016 (sorry, Eugene). And as dead, sadly, as Abraham Ford’s moustache (did I mention it’s magnificent?).
