The Walking Dead Season 7: 3 Things 'Sing Me A Song' Got Right (And 4 It Got Wrong)

2. Too Much Spencer

Speaking of the worst characters on The Walking Dead, enter Spencer Monroe.

You could make the case that 'any Spencer' equals 'too much Spencer', but even allowing that the character has to show his face now and then until he's eventually killed off, there was too much of him in this episode, and all of it hitting the same note he's always played.

Spencer, incase you weren't sure, isn't a fan of Rick Grimes. And though he doesn't like to talk about that dislike, sometimes he can't help himself and it just comes spilling out. That's what happens in this episode, where his scenes become a Rick bitchfest. Even Father Gabriel calls him out on it.

The thing is, Spencer isn't totally wrong. Rick has made some poor decisions and endangered their lives. But he's become so unlikable, and his character immediately equated with being a dick, his whining about Rick so incessant without actually doing anything, that it's hard to even bear listening to him, much less acknowledge or care about what he has to say.
