The Walking Dead Season 7: 4 Ups & 5 Downs From 'Service'

1. Rick's Confession

It's not until the end of the episode that Andrew Lincoln is given something different to do. He spends most of Service flitting between cowering in fear and trying to contain his boiling rage. Fair play to him, he does a sterling job, but the more important part comes in his conversation with Michonne, when he explains his thinking right now.

He goes back to Shane, a rare mention of his best friend turned adversary, and quickly gives Michonne the backstory. And then comes the major revelation (which has long been speculated on, and many fans had assumed) that he knows Judith isn't his.

That itself may not be a massive shock, but Rick admitting he knows this, and has accepted it, is a bit of a one. At a time when we're seeing a shell of the Rick Grimes we knew, it's a moment that shows the strength and humanity still within him. And it's that strength he'll need to rise up and defeat Negan. It strengthens the bond between Rick and Michonne, provides a nice callback to the show's past, and gives us a glimpse into Rick's real state of mind.
