3. It's Weird That No One Tried To Stop Morgan

The Walking Dead Morgan Richard death
Gene Page/AMC

While Morgan's murder of Richard largely worked, especially (as just discussed) on a character level and as a showcase for Lennie James' talent and understanding of this character, there was one element that didn't.

Morgan takes everyone )viewers, Kingdomers, Saviours) by surprise when he knocks Richard to the ground with his staff, and that counts double when he proceeds to strangle the life out of him.

The only thing is, though, that choking someone to death isn't exactly a quick method of killing someone. It's not like he shoots Richard; the death takes a very long time to happen here. And yet throughout it all Ezekiel, Daniel, Jerry and the rest all just stand there watching in horror as a man they haven't known that long kills one of the community's highest-ranking members.

Fair enough they'd be initially taken by surprise, but to stand idly by for that length of time is baffling, and takes you out of the moment a bit.
