The Walking Dead Season 7: 6 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The Well'

1. We've Been Here Before

The Walking Dead Kingdom

The Kingdom is different from anywhere else we've seen on the show. It has a King. It has apples and pomegranates, and a choir that sings Bob Dylan. It has a tiger!

And yet, for all its quirks and charm, it also feels like we've been here before. Not here, but with the discovery of a new location, of new characters, and the hope and promise that brings with it.

It's part of The Walking Dead's modus operandi, to find these new locations, establish them as somewhere safe, and then eventually flee the death and destruction that occurs. The best thing any community can do is refuse to open its gates to Rick Grimes. The fact that it's through Morgan and Carol we find the Kingdom offers some hope that this might not be just another place to destroy. But then, we've been there before too. The Kingdom has its differences, but doesn't feel wholly new. Hopefully that doesn't transpire to be the case, but there is that 'been here, burnt that to the ground' feeling with it.

The Walking Dead now has a lot of locations to juggle - Alexandria, Hilltop, Kingdom, and the Saviours compound. It'll be interesting to see whether it can successfully juggle them all, or if one gets completely cut-off.
