2. The Saviours

Negan didn't appear in this episode, with Lucille presumably enjoying a well-earned rest, but his reach was still felt.

We've already seen how Hilltop and later Alexandria are forced to bend to his will and share what they have with him, and it transpires during the episode that the Kingdom is no exception. They have done well for themselves though, because eight pigs doesn't seem all that much considering.

The scene with the Saviours, though, was the one part of the episode that fell rather flat. They were all fairly reasonable, and much less threatening than the Saviours we've seen before. I guess Negan can't always send out his top guys, but I didn't really buy them as his henchmen. That's especially the case for the long-haired Saviour who gets into a fight with Richard. He's just a bit of a d*ck, and is pretty swiftly defeated (even if he does get a couple of free shots).

The Saviours we've seen until this point have all felt like part of a unit who are clearly in control, and maybe it's to show the strength of the Kingdom, but I didn't really get that here, and nor was the scene particularly entertaining. It passed by, and was all fairly bland, save for Morgan's brief struggle with holding a gun again.
