The Walking Dead Season 7: 6 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The Well'

Melissa McBride still doesn't get the credit she deserves for her work on this show. If she were giving this level of performance on a more prestige series, I don't think there'd be any doubt over her having at least a couple of Emmy nominations to her name.

The Well isn't anything groundbreaking in that regard; it doesn't represent her series best work, but it's still a fantastic showing all the same. The way she's able to play the various sides of Carol, turning the character into an actor herself, is a joy to behold. One minute she's beyond frightened, then deliriously and cheerfully agreeing with Ezekiel, the next she's outside and calling the whole thing a pile of sh*t.

Most of the show's cast are pretty good, but McBride is a clear cut above, and has been for a few seasons now. She's capable of pulling off everything this show asks of her (and probably a fair bit more), and it's no surprise that this episode is strong when it has Carol at its core.
