The Walking Dead Season 7: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Cell'

3. Dwight And Negan's Relationship

Dwight is the Saviour we've seen the most of so far, and one of Negan's top guys. So it was really interesting here to get an examination of their relationship.

While on the surface Dwight is one of his loyal subjects who bends the knee, there's a hell of a lot more history and resentment bubbling away underneath. The pair have a very revealing one-on-one talk in the episode, when Negan tells him to go and find a girl, as reward for his work on breaking Daryl.

It's clear here that Negan is deliberately pushing him, and gets as much enjoyment from playing games with his own men as he does his enemies. For Dwight, there's the pull between obeying Negan and wanting the 'easy' life, and his instincts and desire to go against him. It's not a major conflict right now, but the groundwork for a bigger gap widening between the two - and a turn to the side of good for Dwight - definitely starts getting laid here.
