5. The Jadis Twist

The Walking Dead Jadis Rick

It was clear from the moment we met them that the Scavengers weren't to be trusted - after all, this is a group who forced Rick into a pit with a walker in order to prove himself, and then demanded more guns than should be possible in order to gain their allegiance.

Still, Rick was so blinded by his singular goal of defeating Negan that he ignored these warning signs, and ends up paying the price here as Jadis and her people make the not-so-surprising reveal that they're actually working with the Saviours, and have been supplying them with information.

It's not an outright terrible twist, nor was it guaranteed going in that it would happen (though the question was definitely being asked). The issues come with the fact that it was so clearly telegraphed during the episode, which ruined any surprise it might've contained (the interaction between Michonne and the female Scavenger was a big clue), that they scarper once the fighting breaks out (they "don't bother", and it's difficult to see why we should be too bothered about them), and it just makes Rick - our leader and hero - look like a moron.
