9. Does Maggie Now Lead The Hilltop?
We do see Gregory back at The Hilltop in the season eight trailer, but he cuts a sulking figure and is cowering behind Maggie, isolated from the rest of the community.
Maggie has already stepped up as de-facto leader at The Hilltop, helping to teach its sheltered men and women how to fight and leading them into battle at Alexandria. She has been seen giving out instructions and has been called “boss lady” by one resident.
If Rick is still calling the shots overall - it will be interesting to see the leadership dynamic between him and King Ezekiel - then he will want Maggie installed at Gregory’s expense. She is one of his most trusted friends, and he has been grooming her for rule.
Although Gregory enjoyed the perks of his position, he does not have the backbone to withstand such a coup, especially because Maggie appears to have the support of most of the colony.
Her first act of business as leader - get that painting back from Simon. It really was magnificent.
