The Walking Dead Season 8: 5 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Some Guy'

2. Just Some Guy

The Walking Dead Ezekiel
Gene Page/AMC

Ezekiel's schtick has been wearing thin, as he gives grandiose speeches, makes proclamations that no one will die, and generally just continues his Renaissance Faire vibe.

We see how that has affected the people of the Kingdom this week, as they all sacrifice their own lives to protect his. The show loves to switch from hope to despair, and through Ezekiel we get an excellent example of that here.

The fabrication that he's built up starts crumbling down in horrific fashion, and we get to spend some extended time with the man underneath the 'crown'. There's an interesting character lurking there, one more pained and frightened than the King allows himself to be, and the scenes where he's trying to get free of the walkers has genuine tension to it, and lead to some great moments with Jerry, Carol, and of course Shiva.
