The Walking Dead Season 8: 5 Ups And 4 Downs From 'The Damned'

4. The Plan Makes For An Effective Surprise

The armoured cars rock up at the compound, and for most of the episode it looks like a similar tactic to last week: pin them in, pick them off, and (maybe) introduce another herd as well.

It's not great in terms of action, but the twist in what the actual plan is works really well. Killing them off so that that the Saviours then become the walker herd picking off their own is a moment of real ingenuity, and a nice surprise to give this storyline a bit of a lift.

The walkers are often overlooked on the show, but this episode once again finds an interesting way of turning them into a weapon to be used by Rick's team.
