The Walking Dead Season 8: 5 Ups And 4 Downs From 'The Damned'

3. Carol Brings Out The Best In Ezekiel (Bonus: Shiva)

Ezekiel's whole OTT, Shakespeare-in-the-apocalypse act has been wearing a bit thin, both last week and again in this episode. It's not bad, but just a tad overdone at this point without too much else to him.

Thankfully, just when it was becoming a bit much, they give us another peek behind the curtain. It's good to get these reminders that it's all just a theatrical act from Ezekiel, and one he does for the good of his people. It serves to make him a deeper, more interesting character, and there's much more to be explored of that person underneath the King.

Once again it's Carol who brings out this side in him, and the two play off each other really well. The actors have hinted at romance between the two, and the show is clearly laying the groundwork for that to potentially happen, but mostly it's just an interesting connection between two characters with differing worldviews who bring out a different side to the other.

Meanwhile, it's not really enough for a whole point, but it's never not awesome to see Shiva leaping into action and tearing into a guy. Like cowbell, there's always room for more tiger.
