The Walking Dead Season 8: 6 Reasons To Be Excited (& 3 To Be Worried)

2. The Lacklustre Quality Of Season 7

Most of the issues with Season 7 have been referenced throughout the article, but there's no escaping the fact that they did exist.

While that could spur the show on to better things, going by the form guide things don't look so positive. It can be difficult for shows to turn things around when they get into a bit of a rut - although TWD has been up and down with its seasons for years - and there's not one easy fix for the writers. Fingers crossed they've taken some lessons away from Season 7 and are able to course correct, and the chatter around Season 8 has been good, but it's something that's easier said than done, especially with the same team onboard.

The loss of viewers that came with Season 7 could also be a worry. While the series' viewership is still huge, it's a lot worse than before. Networks can be pretty demanding, and when a show's ratings fall drastically it can lead to cheap shocks to draw them back in, and that's not what The Walking Dead needs to do right now.
