The Walking Dead Season 8: 6 Reasons To Be Excited (& 3 To Be Worried)

Reasons To Be Worried...

3. Negan

The arrival of Negan was hugely anticipated, and when Jeffrey Dean Morgan was cast it seemed like they'd nailed it. Here was The Walking Dead's biggest villain, with an effortlessly charismatic actor in the role.

Unfortunately, it hasn't quite worked out that way. Negan's arrival coincided with the show becoming bleaker than ever, but also the character just wasn't interesting. It was the same thing every time, and beyond the surface brutality and bad jokes there was little depth given to the character.

He's once again going to be a major part of Season 8, which means those same problems could still exist. Hopefully Morgan is able to add more layers to the character, and they have him do something other than constantly talking (and talking and talking), but if not then Season 8 is going to have at least one real issue.
