The Walking Dead Season 8 Finale: Every Dumb Moment, Ranked Bad To Worst

6. Oceanside's Predictable "Hero" Moment

Outside of Jadis and the trash people, Oceanside is perhaps the stupidest - and certainly most wasted - group on the show. Though their introductory episode wasn't that bad - and their backstory of having all their men murdered by Simon is admittedly quite compelling - the writers only ever really revisit the group when they need a quick solution to a plot-related problem.

This was once again how they were used in the season finale, with the community turning up at the last moment to throw molotov cocktails at a team of Negan's men about to attack the Hilltop. You could see their appearance coming from a mile off, which is a problem already, but it's the fact that this was supposed to be their big, redemptive moment that's the main issue.

After an entire season spinning their wheels and making up the worst parts of otherwise good episodes, the payoff to this belaboured storyline has Oceanside fulfilling a role literally anyone else could have been swapped in for.

Even worse, their help isn't needed, as Tara has a group of her own soldiers about to spring an ambush and take Negan's thugs out anyway. It's an eye-roll worthy way of making Aaron's storyline worth a damn, but it could have been cut out the episode entirely and nothing would've been lost.
