While Scars can be appreciated as a stand-alone episode, it also proves to be of extreme importance to the show's narrative in that it finally gives us some answers to the series' biggest questions. While the instalment's title is likely indicative of the emotional scarring that the events of this episode left on Michonne and Daryl, it's also a reference to the scars on the two mainstays' backs, as we finally learned who was responsible for putting them there.

In addition to that, this outing also explained away some of the series' latest plot-holes - most importantly in regards to Judith. During the mid-season premiere, the young girl cornered Negan with a gun, which resulted in a lot of criticism online, as many viewers couldn't comprehend how she acquired a firearm unsupervised.

It turns out that the pistol is actually Rick's, as Michonne had recovered it from the site where she had last seen her lover. It's not a perfect explanation, as it's still hard to believe anyone would trust a toddler with a loaded weapon - no matter how sensible they appear to be - but it's an explanation nonetheless, and considering it's TWD we're talking about, we should count ourselves lucky we were given any. Here's hoping that we'll find out how Judith managed to escape Alexandria soon, as this remains a mystery to us all.
