The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 5 Ups & 5 Downs From "Bye"
2. Up: A Shocking Cliffhanger
As noted, "Bye" ends with another helicopter ride from hell. (The last time Rick went on one, Michonne and Nat shot it down and killed Okafor.) This time, though, there's a slightly happier ending. Or is there?
After a mission clearing delts in which Michonne's Dana personality is completely forgotten, Rick and Michonne share some smooches behind a tree (how cute) and prepare to fly home. But before they make it back, flying through a storm, Michonne grabs Rick and throws them both from the helicopter, into dark waves of choppy water.
It's a bold move, to be sure, but certainly an enticing one. Obviously, the couple will survive the fall, but to what end? With Jadis's threats still ringing in Rick's ears and his previous escape attempts painfully unsuccessful, how long do they exactly expect to survive now that they've technically escaped?
We'll have to wait until next week to see how Rick and Michonne grapple with her last ditch effort to reach freedom, but right now their escape is very bittersweet indeed. It's good they're free, but how this will effect them going forward is horrible to consider.
