The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 5 Ups & 5 Downs From "Bye"
3. Up: More of the CRM
In the premiere, the CRM were explored very well, if thinly. We learned that Okafor, the man who saved Rick when he arrived, was responsible for the bombing runs on Atlanta (famously captured in The Walking Dead's first season), and that the organisation doesn't like powerful survivors infiltrating their ranks.
In "Bye," we learn a little bit more. Nothing particularly epic or flashy, but the way the episode explores the spectre of the CRM's sins - its gas attacks, bombings, genocidal mentality and secrets - without fully spelling them out does ramp up the tension.
This is particularly true when Commander Beale re-enters Rick's life, sharing with him in no uncertain terms that he doesn't trust Rick or Dana (Michonne!), a statement compounded by the fact Beale promotes Thorne ahead of Rick.
The best of the CRM, though, can be found with Jadis. Now a high-flying CRM agent, Jadis has some kind of "arrangement" with Rick that's the only thing keeping the pair of them (and now Michonne) alive. What is this arrangement? What is Jadis's endgame? Will she really attack Alexandria if Rick tries another escape? At the moment, she's a mystery, but a damn terrifying one.
