The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs From "Gone"

8. Down: Rick & Michonne Are Back To Square One

"Gone" offers some major insight into the previous episode's lingering twist, in which Rick, his chopper shot down by Nat, is blindsided to be reunited with Michonne. It's a great scene (we'll get there), but once it's done The Ones Who Live falls back on already old habits.

With the couple's long-awaited reunion comes a crushing realisation for Rick: Neither of them will be able to escape the CRM, and if the CRM learn who Michonne is to Rick - learning, therefore, how strong and dangerous she really is - she won't live much longer.

Acting as if they don't know each other to save themselves, they're brought back to the CRM community, together but separated by fabricated backstories and inescapable walls. Which is, frustratingly, exactly where we started the show in the first place.

Now, this isn't entirely awful - I for one can't wait to see Rick and Michonne help bring down or reshape yet another grand community - but to see the show already double back on itself does leave you with a question: Has The Ones Who Live already run out of steam, destined to become too predictable for its own good?

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
