The Walking Dead's 10 Best Farewell Episodes

8. Glenn Rhee - The Last Day On Earth / The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be

Now, the writers do lose points here for Glenn’s death fake-out in Thank You. It was implausible, played fans for fools, and cheapened his actual death. This was a masterclass of how not to build tension in the back half of season six.

That said, even though these episodes aren’t the character-centric send-off that Glenn (and Abraham) deserved, they’re still pivotal turning points in the story and the development of the surviving group. This is particularly true with Maggie and Sasha, who lost their men to Negan and his barbed-wire bat, and Rick, who is forced to submit Alexandria to the Saviors as their slaves.

Glenn’s death marks the end of Alexandria’s freedom, and the beginning of an uprising that will lead to All Out War. It’s too bad all Glenn got was a Last Supper-style dream sequence to commemorate his character.

Not clever enough to write one of these, but I do love gourmet olive oils. Story and Development at Warner Bros. Pictures. @TheMarkAngelo on Instagram
