The West Wing Cast: Where Are They Now?

9. Dulé Hill - Charlie Young

The West Wing
NBC

Dulé Hill was the final addition to the West Wing’s original cast, joining in the third episode as bodyman Charlie Young after concern was expressed about the lack of ethnic diversity amongst the rest of the characters.

He was a shrewd addition, quickly becoming one of the most beloved characters on the show through his rapport with the President, his little brother/big sister relationship with C.J. and his relationship with Zoey, which was annoyingly never resolved after its resumption was hinted at in season six.

A talented tap dancer, Hill first appeared on television at the age of 10. Just 24 when the West Wing started, he was the youngest cast member, having a host of ‘teen’ roles, most notably in She’s All That, under his belt at the time. He departed early in the show’s seventh season to take a larger role in the USA Network’s Psych, returning towards the end once it became apparent that it was going to be the last.

Psych ran for eight seasons and two television movies, the most recent of which aired earlier this year. Having also appeared in recurring roles in Ballers and Suits, both of which ended in 2019, he had a quiet 2020, but will next be seen in Edge Of Tomorrow director Doug Liman’s Covid-themed heist movie Lockdown in 2021.
