The West Wing Cast: Where Are They Now?
8. Elisabeth Moss - Zoey Bartlet
Though the Bartlets
have three daughters, only the youngest, Zoey, appeared in a significant
capacity on the West Wing, with Elizabeth and Ellie getting just a handful of
appearances each.
A central point of two of the series’ most significant plots (her dating of Charlie Young and the assassination attempt that it inspires and her kidnapping), her prominence faded as the show drew to a close, with actress Elisabeth Moss making just a solitary appearance in the seventh season as the teased potential resumption of her and Charlie’s relationship from the sixth frustratingly went nowhere.
Moss boasts one of most successful post-West Wing careers. Her role as Peggy Olsen in AMC’s Mad Men earned her six consecutive Emmy nominations, whilst her current lead role in Hulu’s critically acclaimed The Handmaid’s Tale saw her finally win an award at the seventh time of asking. She has also consistently acted in film and though few of these have been commercially successful, her leading performance in The Invisible Man, which earned $130 million on a $7 million budget before being pulled from theatres in March due to Covid-19, was one of the highlights of a barren cinematic year in 2020.
Still aged just 38 but with 30 years of experience under her belt, expect Moss to remain prominent in the world of television and build a bigger profile in film on the back of The Invisible Man’s success going forwards.
