5. Marita Covarrubias

Appeared In: Seasons 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 Last Seen: Testifying in Mulder's trial about the Syndicate and the conspiracy she'd once been caught up in, before Mulder helped cut her short of testifying about the super-soldiers in order to prevent them retaliating against her. Why She Should Return: Considering all that she was wrapped up in throughout the series and the characters she's often associated with (such as Alex Krycek and the Cigarette Smoking Man), it's something of a surprise that she came out of it all alive, though she earned her exit by doing the right thing. That said, when Monica Reyes returned in the recent season, manipulated by the CSM and having her entire character assassinated in order to make her a sell-out, it seemed like the role would've been more fitting for someone like Marita. Marita's manipulation by a still-alive CSM would've made far more sense, especially since she helped Krycek "kill him" back in the seventh season and he's not someone who tends to forgive and forget. She's one of the series' longest still-living recurring characters, and it'd be neat to see her dragged back into the fray, unwillingly or not.
