Appeared In: Seasons 5, 6, 9 Last Seen: Testifying at Mulder's trial in the ninth season's finale about his father - the Cigarette Smoking Man, of course - and the conspiracy. Why He Should Return: As mentioned earlier, Spender got a bit of revenge on his father - the same man who shot him, performed tests on him, and mutilated him beyond recognition - by normalizing baby William's biology in the final season, but considering the CSM is still alive, it'd be hard to imagine him wanting to sit idly by and allow his father's new plans to come to a complete success. Considering too that he and Mulder are half-brothers, a fact not fully dealt with on the show, seeing the two working together somehow with their original differences now long behind them would be a welcome sight.
