The X-Files: 10 Questions We Still Need Answered

4. Where Is John Doggett?

John Doggett (Robert Patrick) might have irked David Duchovny fans back when he joined The X-Files in seasons eight and nine (some particularly nasty fans took to calling him Dogbreath), but the fact remains that he was an integral part of the show in those seasons, and did an admirable job with the deck stacked against him. Patrick won a Saturn award for his troubles, and if television had a Medal of Honor he should have been given that too, for facing down some particularly ugly, vocal online criticisms at the time, none of which had much merit. In those years, Doggett took on the role of the skeptic while Scully transitioned to believer, along with Monica Reyes, and really, those two seasons were an improvement on the show's final year with Duchovny. Doggett was something new: a no-nonsense cop who felt solid detective work was the key to solving X-Files. In short, he was the anti-Mulder, and having met Agent Miller (a.k.a. Mulder Part 2), we suddenly appreciate him that much more. While the revival brought Monica Reyes back, her friend and co-worker, Doggett, was nowhere to be found. That's a shame, and we'd love to know what became of him. Maybe Robert Patrick was busy with Scorpion, or just wasn't interested, but if the show can get him back, or give some sort of closure to his character, it would be welcome.
