The X-Files: 10 Things Every Fan Needs To Know About The New Episodes

3. Scully's Hair Isn't Red Any More

Scully's just not looking herself, and it's something to do with her hair. It must be the wig that Anderson gamely claims is strawberry blonde but which seems in most lights to be out-and-out blonde. Either way, it certainly isn't the bright red fans remember from the original series. The wig is unavoidable because Anderson was advised against dyeing her hair again. If she went red for the X-Files, she'd have to go blonde again for The Fall, and all those back-to-back dye jobs would be too much. Anderson is not a fan of the wig - it's painful to wear and she's fed up with all the negative comments that have made already. Whilst complaining about the colour of Scully's hair feels petty - hair does naturally change colour over time and it's been a while since X-Philes last saw Scully - the wig's hue does truthfully seem an odd creative choice. It can only be hoped that the hairpiece becomes a few shades redder as the season progresses, because it just doesn't feel right thinking of Scully as a "ditzy" blonde. The Scully-related news isn't all so trivial, though. It has been revealed that episode 4 will dwell on Scully's religious faith - an aspect of her personality that the atheistic Mulder has never been able to understand. Fox can believe in aliens from outer space but God is just too fantastical an idea for him. With character-based conflict like that in the offing, it seems certain the new season will contain some great drama.
