The X-Files: 10 Things We Learned From Babylon

7. Forget About The Miller And Einstein Spin-Off

Leading into the X-Files revival, there was a lot of speculation around the roles of Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose. It leaked early that they were playing a pair of FBI agents, Miller and Einstein. Then word leaked that the duo might be considered for a spin-off, and that their appearance was something of a backdoor pilot. Well, forget it. Millder and Einstein were just Mulder and Scully, Jr., without any of the charisma. They weren't bad, per se - Amell actually turned out to be fairly decent by the end of the episode - but they only proved that while you can often imitate, it's dreadfully hard to duplicate the chemistry of two leads like Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. It's not surprising that the show is looking past Mulder and Scully to a Next Generation style show down the road - but they need to avoid making it a clone of the original series.
