The X-Files: 10 Things We Learned From Babylon

8. Skinner Should Have Been A Bigger Part Of The Season

Mitch Pileggi's name once again appeared in the credits of Babylon, but once again, he was grossly underutilized as a lead actor. And that's a shame. He long ago earned his place in the credits of the show, but season nine of the series - and even the earlier seasons - made far better use of him. While his cameo in the second X-Files feature film, 2008's I Want To Believe, made sense (he came in late to make the save), his continued absence from the bulk of this episodes is problematic, as he is one of the aspects of the show that always grounded it (somewhat) in reality. He's the straight man to Mulder when even Scully is buying into his theories, and always managed to keep Fox in line. I'm not asking for a Skinner-centric episode, he simply should have been featured more. His screen time in Babylon was just enough to remind us how dearly he is missed.
